dHAL Software is dedicated to developing software applications, mainly for the field of craniofacial biology and orthodontics. The company was founded in 2003, in order to provide a framework for continuation and expansion of the successful course of the Viewbox software, that had been in development for a number of years. The main products of the company are MorphE, a presentation software for patient education, incorporating more than 140 static images and morphing movies that showcase orthodontic appliances and treatment methods, and Viewbox, a cephalometric software that is completely customizable and can measure 2D diagnostic records (radiographs, photographs, etc.), incorporating, apart from an array of conventional measurements, basic morphometric capabilities, such as Procrustes superimposition and Principal Component Analysis of shape. Viewbox has been on the market for over 10 years and is used by private practitioners and universities worldwide. Currently Viewbox is being upgraded to handle 3D data, such as coming from CT and MRI scans. Dr. Demetrios Halazonetis (DH) is the scientist in charge and main software developer of dHAL. DH is also associate professor of Orthodontics at Athens University Dental School, where he teaches at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and is involved in research. This dual affiliation places dHAL at an advantageous position, because it can be in the forefront of scientific developments, while maintaining close contact with market requirements. Furthermore, collaboration with the University of Athens provides the potential to use facilities there for EVAN research and training, and to cooperate with faculty for providing background knowledge and research experience.
